Recommending activities to students

If teachers would like to make recommendations to some students to participate in an activity, but not force the student to participate they can make pre-selections for parents/students to see before opening the sign up, but leave them free to change the options.

  1. Firstly, add the new group or edit an existing/copied group and select the "For information/ Invitation only; Users can view but not select" check box.  This will enable you to add preselections.

 

 

2. Next click on Allocate to make preselections

3. Click on the Pre-Select Students button that appears.  This will bring up a list of all students that the group is available to (in this case we have set it as available to Years 7 & 8).

 

4. Search for and add the name(s) of the students you would like to recommend the activity to the Selected list, then click Save.

5. Once you have added all the students you would like to recommend the activity to they will appear under the Requested list.  Save the list.

6. Back on the groups page, find the activity again and Edit it.  Clear the check box for "For information/ Invitation only; Users can view but not select" and click Save.

 

7. When the sign up is open, the parents/ students will see the activity has been pre-selected for them, but will be able to change the selection if they would prefer to do a different activity.
